A Christmas Gift Guide for Music Lovers

We don't know about you - but to us it feels increasingly like this time of year is a time for showing your love and spending time with those that matter most, over exchanging tat that you neither want nor need.

It's not about gifts - but if you are about showing your love with a thoughtful gesture and a beautifully wrapped package, and you have a music fan in mind, we've written a short guide for you here.

Tickets to a show they’ll love

It’s perhaps an obvious one (especially coming from us) but we truly believe that the best gift you can give to your favourite music fan is the promise of going to a gig they’ll love. It’s tat-free, and it’ll be an experience that they’ll talk about and remember as a special day for years to come. If you fancy going with them, then it’s also a gift that says ‘let’s spend more time together’ - and what’s more thoughtful than that?

Not sure which show they would want to come to? No problem! We’ve put together the Christmas gift of dreams with our Very Wylde Gift Package - get them an entry ticket to any show of their choice here in 2024, PLUS access to our backstage lounge, camping, pizza and a drink, all for £100 (a whopping saving of up to £40 if you bought them separately!)

A Record (that they don’t already have)

For this one you’ll need to be pretty familiar with their record collection and equipment, but there’s no doubt that a record makes a great gift. They’re collectible, they often have gorgeous cover art, and the sound you can get from a record is just * chef’s kiss * perfection.

This is one that’s a great gift to buy second hand too - it’ll take a bit of scouring, but you can get vintage records in great condition in second hand markets, independent record stores, in second hand and vintage stores, on ebay, or from retailers such as Atlas Records.

A portable speaker

A great gift for party-goers and audiophiles alike is a great soundsystem that they can take with them on the go. There are lots of good ones out there at a range of price points, and what you’re looking for will depend on how they’ll use it, and what they listen out for most.

One of our favourites at The Wyldes HQ is the Wonderboom by Ultimate Ears. It’s tough, waterproof, dustproof, and relatively tiny, but with a big sound that you can hear from any angle. You can adjust bass levels, plus you can link the speaker up with others from the same brand for a proper surround sound, which makes them great for a houseparty.

Art for their walls

There are some seriously good-looking art posters out there which would make the perfect gift for a music lover. For independently designed, hand screen printed art posters inspired by music legends, check out artists such as Luke Drozd, Tommy Davidson (and his shop Prints of Thieves) and Army of Cats.

For high design value at a low price, we also love Lost in Music prints - Katie, the designer behind the small business specialising in stylish lyric prints ‘for the party people’, offers a range of music themed prints to choose from in bold colours and funky designs, we think they’d look great on the wall of a music room.

For something a little more personalised, we love these music prints by YVE Print Co. Based in Bristol, eco-conscious company YVE Print Co. offer a variety of high quality well-designed custom prints, including a range of music themed ones. You can get lyrics to a favourite song printed in gold foil, or even the soundwave from their favourite tune in vivid risoprint colours, with a playable Spotify code inlcuded on the print, so they can play the song that reminds you of them.

A little bit of history

If they’re a music buff, then a biography or autobiography about an artist they admire would make an excellent gift. There are so many to choose from, and it all depends on who their favourite artists are. We’re making our way through this list of 50 greatest rock memoirs of all time compiled by The Rolling Stone.

the t-shirt

No music lover’s wardrobe would be complete without a cool t-shirt featuring their favourite band, or the venue they saw them at.

It’s a great gift to remember an even greater time you’ve shared together. You can often get artists’ merch tees from their own website if they have any left after their tour, or if you want to remember epic times from a show you saw here at The Wyldes, have a browse through our merch here.

So that’s it, just a few ideas for the music lover in your life. We hope this guide has been useful for you, feel free to share it with a friend, and let us know if you have any recommendations - as you might imagine, there are a fair few music fans on our team’s nice lists!
