❆ JANUARY ROUNDUP ❆
We've made it, it's the 57th of January and we are ready to start afresh with a new month.
Whilst we've been battling all the shades of winter weather that Cornwall has to offer this time of year - our future headliners have been busy!
Here's the low-down:
UNDERWORLD CELEBRATED A 30 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
Thirty years on from the release of Underworld's iconic album dubnobasswithmyheadman, and it still sounds just as relevant today.
There's been great reaction on social media, with fans sharing their favourite memories connected with the album. DJ Mag republished this lovely tribute last week, and The Guardian marked the anniversary by ranking Underworld's top songs.
AND KEPT US IN A TRANCE
Underworld's latest release g-town euphoria (luna), made in collaboration with Kettama, has formed the soundtrack to our working weeks this January. The behind the scenes video offers a great insight into their creative process.
SIMPLE MINDS FILM RELEASED
Everything Is Possible tells the real story of how a group of working-class kids followed a dream, and became the iconic world-wide success that is Simple Minds - it's a must-watch if you haven't seen it already.
Now streaming on #ParamountPlusUK - you can watch now on Paramount+, Amazon Prime or Apple TV. Uncut Magazine gave it 4 stars in their review of the feature-length documentary-film last week.
AND TEASED NEW ADDITIONS TO THEIR SET LIST
In an interview with Virgin Radio earlier this month, Simple Minds said that Solstice Kiss had never before been played live, but that it has found its place in their set at the beginning of their tour in New Zealand this month.
ANNE-MARIE THANKS FANS FOR 2023 TOUR
Anne-Marie celebrated bringing the UNHEALTHY Club tour to stages across Europe and the UK in 2023. Her live show, described as 'pop gig meets musical theatre' with its elaborate stage design and shape-shifting choreography brought her lyrics to life for her fans, whom she thanked for their support this month.
2024 will see her tour coming back to venues across the UK, with her ONLY Southwest performance taking place here at The Wyldes - we can't wait!
AND RELEASED A TOP TEN CHRISTMAS TUNE
Anne-Marie's most recent single Christmas Without You was a hit this festive season, reaching number 7 in the singles chart. The single soundtracks heartwarming holiday rom-com Your Christmas Or Mine 2 (one to put on your watch list if you need a movie to snuggle up with next year).
You can hear the song and watch the trailer here.
JESS GLYNNE TEASED NEW MUSIC
Jess Glynne has released video snippets featuring yet-to-be-released songs, and has teased a new album on the way very soon. In an interview with The Telegraph last week, she opened up about her struggles over the past few years with burnout, meeting Beyoncé, her relationship, and the future of her music.
She revealed "I want the album to tell a story about vulnerability and power, being brave, showing all sides to who I am. I want it to be unapologetic."
AND GAVE A BEAUTIFUL LIVE TV PERFORMANCE
Earlier this month, Jess Glynne appeared on Michael Mcintyre's Big Show in a stunning live performance. If you missed it, you can still catch up with the episode here. She'll also be performing in the Radio 2 Piano Room with the BBC Concert Orchestra on the 16th February.
JAMES ARTHUR RELEASED FIFTH STUDIO ALBUM
James Arthur has just released his eagerly-awaited fifth studio album Bitter Sweet Love. The album has already received rave reviews, and has swiftly rocketed into the race for No.1 in the album charts this week.
AND BLEW US AWAY US WITH HIS LIVE SHOWS
James Arthur's latest appearance on Michael Mcintyre's Big Show, and his recently released live orchestra performances (included on the Digital Deluxe album download) have got us spellbound. His trademark soaring vocals paired with spine tingling live instrumentals are a match made in heaven - we can't wait to hear what he has in store for us in June.
IDLES GIFTED US WITH A NEW SINGLE
IDLES' latest single Gift Horse, along with its surreal music video were revealed earlier his month, sparking curiosity over whats next on the album, due to be released on the 16th February. Gift Horse is the third single released, after tracks Dancer and Grace gave us a taste of the rock band's heartfelt upcoming album TANGK.
AND RELEASED MORE TOUR DATES TO MEET DEMAND
IDLES' shows on their 2024 tour have been selling out left, right and centre, leading the band to add more dates to meet demand for tickets. There are still some tickets available for their show here at The Wyldes - the band's only Southwest venue on the tour - so if you want tickets, get 'em quick.
Phew! You're all caught up - that's all the highlights from the past month or so.
We should probably stop binge-watching music videos and get back to work now, but if you're not done procrastinating - you can catch up with all the latest news from us, prepare for your visit this summer and book tickets right here on our website.
Catch up again soon,
Team Wyldes
