Global rock icons Simple Minds will be bringing their world-class live show to Cornwall for the first time in 40 years. And they’ll really be here, at The Wyldes in 2024.

Formed in the seventies, Simple Minds are one of the most successful bands ever to come from the UK, having sold over 60 million records worldwide, collected awards, and shot straight to the top of the music charts with their singles and albums.

With five UK number one albums under their belts, Simple Minds have received glittering acclaim for their work throughout their career, and in more recent years have seen a resurgence in popularity with audiences all over the world gathering in their thousands to see the band perform their well-known hits including Promised You a Miracle, Glittering Prize, Someone Somewhere in Summertime, Waterfront, Alive and Kicking, Sanctify Yourself and Don’t You Forget About Me, with the group consistently regarded as one of the best live outfits of their generation. Referring to their 2022 Wembley Arena concert The Times said ‘back in fashion and on thrilling form’.

Simple Minds have received universal critical acclaim for their recent albums, with MOJO Magazine describing their 2015 release Big Music as ‘their best album in 30 years’. In 2018, Simple Minds performed on their largest US tour to date, and their 2022 release Direction Of The Heart launched into the top of album charts in the UK and internationally. To top it all, the band have also been awarded a Q Awards Lifetime Achievement award for their music.

“Concerts are the life blood of Simple Minds, it’s where we and our audience come alive and energised through music. Four decades on from when we first set out, this global tour will demonstrate that Simple Minds are still alive and kicking!

- Jim Kerr, Vocalist

Line-up

  • Simple Minds

Returning to Cornwall for their first live show here in 40 years, living rock legends Simple Minds are set to give a world class performance at The Wyldes, including powerful live arrangements of fan favourites, as well as songs from across heir vast catalogue of albums.

  • Del Amitri

Creators of countless legendary hit rock singles including Roll To Me, Nothing Ever Happens, and Tell Her This, Del Amitri will be bringing 80s and 90s fan favourites, as well as songs from their latest album Fatal Mistakes to The Wyldes.

  • Coach Party

Embodying what NME described as a ‘joyous, pint-spilling brand of indie rock’, female-fronted four-piece Coach Party find influence in a broad palate of artists including Nirvana, The Strokes and Wolf Alice, their primary drive for songwriting stemming from “the often entertaining struggle of real life”.

  • CVC

CVC (short for Church Village Collective) will match our tree-filled valley in chilled-out, summer ambience. With music The Guardian described as ‘psych-pop made for outdoor stages at sundown’ - CVC are a classy answer to a world-wide yearning for 60s sun-bleached nostalgia.

  • Bailey Tomkinson & The Locals

St Ives sweethearts Bailey Tomkinson & The Locals will open the stage. These local favourites masterfully blend elements of folk, pop, and rock to create a sound that is both uniquely British and universally appealing, proving that UK country music is not just a trend, but a vibrant and vital part of the global music tapestry.
